Two teenagers have appeared in court after a wild brawl in Adelaide’s CBD that was captured on video, leaving Christmas shoppers shocked.
Police said they were called to the busy walkway along King William St, at Beehive Corner, around 1.15pm on Wednesday, but by the time officers arrived at the scene, the group had fled.
Witnesses videoed the group of teens moments after the ugly fight broke out, allegedly kicking and punching each other.
A woman was also seen pulling two young children away from the group, as the fight intensified.
Following an investigation and review of CCTV footage of the incident, Operation Meld detectives located and arrested two boys at a Blakeview address on Thursday morning.
A 17-year-old boy from Adelaide was charged with aggravated affray and five counts of breach of bail. The 14-year-old boy from Blakeview, was charged with aggravated affray, property damage and six counts of breach of bail.
They were refused police bail and appeared in Youth Court later on Thursday.
Each was remanded to face court again in January, but on separate dates.
About an hour later after the violent incident, one of the teenage boys, who was captured in the footage of the altercation wearing a distinctive two-piece tracksuit, was spotted outside the Adelaide Youth Court.
According to 7NEWS, the youth had been waiting for his 14-year-old friend – who cannot be identified – who was facing court over another incident involving machetes that broke out on Rundle Mall in October.
Opposition police spokesman Jack Batty raised concerns about the “brazen youths brawling in our major shopping precincts”.
SA Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and detectives urged anyone with information that may assist to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
