A CLIFFTOP sculpture trial featuring local and international artists is expected to be a tourist drawcard to Granite Island when it opens to the public on Saturday.
Eight permanent sculptures and two temporary ones will be installed on the clifftop as part of a three-year pilot program, with up to four new sculptures being added every six months.
The Sculpture Encounters — Granite Island trail is a partnership between the State Government and arts group Sculpture by the Sea Incorporated.
The not-for-profit group is behind outdoor sculpture exhibitions at Bondi Beach, in Sydney, and Cottesloe, in Perth, which attract a combined 720,000 visitors each year.
The trail will be open every day of the year and all permanent works are for sale.
