Local businesses have banned Golden Grove High School students from entering their premises because of their anti-social behaviour and constant abuse.
Students from the high school have been barred from specific outlets for bad behaviour, including verbal abuse directed at employees and other customers, physical abuse toward each other, vandalism and theft.
It comes as Golden Grove High School was embroiled in a shocking fight scandal on Thursday, with videos of violent assaults between students at the school made public.
The nearby KFC has signs preventing all students from dining in without a parent due to “a handful of school students not respecting out restaurant and property”.
Across the road, McDonald’s has a list of multiple students they’ve banned indefinitely from the premises for refusing to co-operate with staff’s request to stop vaping indoors.
Another fast food chain in the area has also banned specific students for abuse towards staff and customers as well as vandalism and fighting.
One fast food chain employee, who asked to remain anonymous for her safety, said the store had needed to call the police on multiple occasions – with one incident leading to the arrest of a female Golden Grove student.
“We’d rather not (have to deal with it), but we have to deal with it,” she said.
An average shift for an employee working near the school involves cleaning graffiti off the children’s playground slide, bathrooms and dining room, begging students to stop vaping indoors, breaking up physical fights and taking verbal abuse.
“When we ask them to leave they call us names,” she said.
The employee recalled one incident when Golden Grove students made fun and verbally abused a disabled customer eating in the dining room.
“The Golden Grove students make noises to customers like barking and moaning,” she said.
“The customers know it is them and they retaliate.”
While the store she works at has not made a blanket ban on all students, it had banned specific trouble students, and needed to constantly monitor the dining room to ensure they weren’t causing issues.
McDonald’s manager Jade Lavender said the students had been a massive issue for her Golden Grove restaurant.
“I definitely have to stop what I’m doing and watch them,” she said.
“I see them on the camera and tell them to get out.”
Ms Lavender said while the students hadn’t been violent in the store, they continued to vape indoors despite the constant warnings from herself and her staff.
“They do it knowing,” she said.
Ms Lavender said the students don’t understand “why” they had to stop.
The issue has become so serious, multiple students are banned from the fast food outlet, but Ms Lavender said Golden Grove students weren’t the only ones.
“It’s all students,” she said.
The behaviour occurs all throughout the day as students are “constantly wagging school” according to the employees.
