A MAN has been arrested after allegedly stealing a bottle of Gatorade in a break-in at a Thebarton gym which was previously home to a notorious bikie gang.
Police said the Adelaide Gym on Dalgleish St was broken into about 4am Wednesday through a jemmied door.
The intruder allegedly stole a single bottle of Gatorade before leaving the gym, which is in the same building as the clubrooms for the Finks, and later the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang.
In March, The Advertiser revealed Adelaide Gym had been established in December last year and was owned by Mongols treasurer Andrew Peter Stevens.
At the time, police said the gym remained a “proscribed premises” in which gang members were barred from congregating despite its conversion to a gymnasium.
After this morning’s break-in, police reviewed CCTV footage and arrested a 34-year old Brompton man nearby.
Police expect to charge him with serious criminal trespass, property damage and going equipped to commit an offence.
He was granted police bail to face Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
