South Australians have opened their hearts to the Princess of Wales after her shock cancer diagnosis, with messages to be sent to London.

Kate Middleton, 42, on Friday revealed tests after major abdominal surgery in January showed the presence of cancer.

The Advertiser today publishes reader messages praising the mother of three’s grace and courage. Every reader who left a note is named. Governor Frances Adamson will now pass on the outpourings directly to Kensington Palace.

“Many South Australians will remember the visit of the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Adelaide in 2014, when they were warmly received by our community,” the Governor said. “Many more – including my own family – will understand from personal experience the challenge of cancer, not only for the patient but for their loved ones. This will especially so where, as in this case, young families are involved.

“Government House will be delighted to pass on to Her Royal Highness the expressions of support and empathy, and best wishes for recovery, from the people of South Australia.”
