Explosions, thick smoke and a raging blaze have been captured on video from a truck that burst into flames after colliding with a van in the Riverland, leaving four people injured.
Two onlookers filmed the terrifying fire from a nearby dirt road, one of the women saying “f**k, let’s get out of here” after the truck exploded.
Emergency services rushed to the Sturt Hwy near the intersection of Kingston Rd on Friday evening after reports a Mercedes van and semi-trailer had collided.
Crews arrived shortly after call-outs at about 7.10pm to find the truck on fire, and though it was extinguished, the vehicle fully destroyed.
The driver of the truck, 44, and his passenger, 45, both from Victoria, were fortunate to escape the blaze, sustaining only minor injuries from the crash.
An 80-year-old man and 73-year-old woman from Osborne who were in the van were both taken to hospital for assessment, both of them also receiving minor injuries.
The Sturt Hwy was forcibly closed for several as a result of the crash, but was reopened later that night.
SAPOL said an investigation into the circumstances of the crash was ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam has been asked to contact police, and can anonymously provide information to Crime Stoppers online, or call 1800 333 000.
