A former not-for-profit boss who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the organisation he was running and spent it at strip clubs and massage parlours has joined a dating app, looking for a partner who “loves an adventure”.

Between December 2015 and December 2020, Daniel Luke Clark, 42, stole $216,380 from the South Australian Sports Medicine Association while employed as its executive officer.

In August, he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of dishonestly deal with property without owner’s consent and one count of dishonest dealings with documents in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court.

It is understood he spent about $200,000 of the stolen money at strip clubs and massage parlours over the five-year period.

Now, just days before he is to be sentenced in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court, a Tinder profile bearing Clark’s name and image has surfaced.

“Recently moved back to Adelaide and enjoy getting out and exploring our great city,” the profile reads.

On July 6, Western District CIB detectives extradited Clark from Western Australia to face the charges.

According to the profile, Clark is “looking for someone who loves an adventure, the outdoors and getting the most out of life”.

“Love the outdoors and so glad summer is not far away,” the profile reads.

“I enjoy hiking, travelling, wine and cooking.”

According to the profile, Clark is looking for a “short-term” relationship but is “open to long”.

Clark was sacked from his role as the sport and recreation leader at Bunbury City Council after pleading guilty to the charges.

“The City was unaware of any investigation or charges relating to Mr Clark upon his appointment or before his arrest,” Bunbury City Council chief executive Malcolm Osborne said in a statement.

Clark worked at SASMA for more than a decade and was its executive officer from January 2016 to March 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He was asked to step down as executive officer after SASMA learned he had spent thousands of dollars of the organisation’s money at similar venues during a trip to the UK.

It is understood Clark agreed to repay the money spent on that trip but did not disclose the total amount he had stolen over his five years in charge when he left the organisation.

“The effect of this crime has been significant,” SASMA chief executive Danielle Grant-Cross said in a statement.

Clark will be sentenced in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
