A food delivery driver has lost his licence for 12 months after he allegedly fell asleep drunk in the middle of a busy road with a stomach full of his customer’s meal.

A food delivery driver has lost his licence for 12 months after he allegedly fell asleep drunk in the middle of a busy road with a stomach full of his customer’s meal.

Just before 2am Sunday, police received reports a Hyundai sedan was stalled in the middle of Cross Rd at Westbourne Park with the driver passed out at the wheel.

Police said the car was found on nearby Ningana Ave, with the driver having eaten part of the meal he was supposed to be delivering.

Police said the driver, a 38-year-old Glen Osmond man appeared “grossly intoxicated” and refused to complete a breath test.

He was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for assessment before being issued with an immediate 12-month loss of licence and having his car impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to face the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

Elsewhere, an alleged drink driver crashed his car through a fence at Globe Derby after trying to avoid a roadside breath test.

Police allege the driver, a 38-year-old Moana man approached the RBT on Port Wakefield Rd before turning onto a side street.

He crashed his car into a fence and fled the scene on foot.

Police said with the help of Police Dog Bandit, the alleged drink driver was quickly found about 200 metres from his car.

He was arrested and charged with drink driving, driving unlicensed and aggravated driving without due care after allegedly blowing .173 – more than three times the legal limit.

His car was towed from the scene and impounded and he was hit with an additional 12-month loss of licence.

He was bailed to face the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on August 29.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old Seaton man was also banned from driving for 12 months after allegedly blowing .220.

Police said about 9.20pm Saturday, the man was stopped in his Toyota ute on Trimmer Pde at Findon and breath tested.

He was reported for drink driving and his car was impounded.

He will be summonsed to face court at a later date.
