Five boys aged 12 to 14 have been arrested after police tracked a stolen pizza delivery car from Port Augusta to Ingle Farm.

The red Toyota Yaris sedan was allegedly stolen along with cash during a break-in at a Port Augusta pizza shop in the early hours on Friday.

Police spotted the stolen car heading south on the Augusta Highway at Crystal Brook just before 5.30am and followed from a distance before losing the sedan around Lochiel.

Police saw the car again coming into Port Wakefield, with a police chopper also tracking the sedan from the air.

“PolAir tracked the vehicle south along Port Wakefield Road then east along Montague Road and into the backstreets of Ingle Farm,” police said in a statement.

“Patrols were able to successfully spike the car’s tyres and the car was abandoned soon after on Devoncourt Ave with five occupants seen running off.”

“Police patrols and Dog Operations Unit cordoned the area, and five youths were subsequently arrested.”

The boys, who were from Whyalla Stuart and Port Augusta, have been charged with serious criminal trespass, theft and illegal use of a motor vehicle.

They were refused bail and were expected to appear at Elizabeth Youth Court on Friday.
