Classic car destroyed before Country Fire Service firefighters extinguish blaze near Belair Hotel

Firefighters have revealed the estimated damage bill after a blaze in a backyard shed caused major delays on Main Rd at Blackwood on Monday.

Blackwood fire: Classic car caught up in blaze near Belair Hotel

A classic car went up in flames after a shed fire, which racked up a $200,000 damage bill, caused parts of Blackwood, Belair and Glenalta to be covered by smoke.

Five Country Fire Service crews extinguished the blaze at a residential property on Main Rd, next door to the Belair Hotel.

Emergency services were called just after 3.30pm, and a CFS spokeswoman confirmed witness reports that a shed and a vintage 1960s-era car parked inside were “completely destroyed”.

No injuries were reported and fire cause investigators attended the scene.
