While metropolitan Adelaide experiences a cold snap, the Country Fire Service officially declared an early Fire Danger Season across six regional districts.
Fire bans have been declared from 16 October onwards for the Flinders, North East Pastoral, North West Pastoral, and West Coast districts, two weeks earlier than last year.
The Mid North and Yorke Peninsula will also follow with an early start on 1 November.
The CFS will declare dates for the remaining districts including Adelaide in the coming weeks.
A fire permit is required for burning activities during the Fire Danger Season or on days where Total Fire Bans are declared.
It comes after the CFS put out dozens of grass fires over the long weekend, including one on Monday which threatened the Riverland township of Taylorville and burned for several days.
Meanwhile, Adelaide recorded cool daily maximum of 16 degrees on Wednesday with no further showers expected this week.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects temperatures to climb steadily to a sunny 23 degrees on Monday and remaining warm for the remainder of next week.
