A resident of one of Adelaide’s top apartment blocks has told of the moment a fire broke out inside the high rise building over the weekend.
Annette Kidman was one of many residents to be evacuated from the Air Apartments after a blaze erupted from an invertor on Sunday afternoon.
“There was a lot of smoke, very dense by then in our stairwell,” she told 7NEWS.
“Absolutely chock-a-block, I can feel it now.”
After being evacuated Ms Kidman, who is also a fire warden, rushed back into the building to help a trapped neighbour.
Other witnesses told how smoke could be seen billowing from the 11-floor luxury apartment complex in Adelaide’s inner southeast which overlooks the Victoria Park.
Almost a dozen fire crews extinguished the top-floor blaze within 30 minutes as hundreds of residents were evacuated.
Fire cause investigators found the fire erupted from an invertor on the 12th floor and damage was contained to the plant room.
On Monday an MFS spokesperson told The Advertiser there was no structural damage.
