Filip Odzak: Adelaide City Council — I ask you to take note and help us fulfil this legacy

QUENTIN Kenihan had ticked off almost everything on his bucket list but he still had one job left to do. So let’s get it done, writes Filip Odzak.

Entertainer, disability advocate Quentin Kenihan dies aged 43

QUENTIN was a modern day superhero.

Much like the title of his autobiography suggests — Not All Superheroes Wear Capes — my superhero, in fact, had a mad set of wheels.

He was brazen, bold, and brutally honest. And from the moment I met him, he was fiercely protective of me.

Quentin was the definition of a ride-or-die friend, and now, in death, I will still ride for him.

He had a bucket list — many actually — and he managed to cross off every task he set his mind to.

His can-do attitude never ceased to amaze me, and I alway tried to follow his lead because, for someone physically disabled, he was the most able and competent man I knew!

His last task on his bucket list is building an inclusive playground in the city of Adelaide.

His ambition for this project was no secret, and my ambition is to now name this project in his honour upon completion.

Personally I’ve always had trouble using terms like “I love you”. Quentin didn’t. He would end every phone conversation with “I love you”. I would respond with “Aww, that's so sentimental”.

It became a running joke and catchphrase we would throw around. He said to me, “I know you love me, you can say it back”.

Just for him I did. I’m so glad I did.

and Quentin, now I will put it in print — I love you.

Thank you for being my big brother and my best friend.

You have influenced and shaped the man I have grown into greatly, which is a blessing, because you were one of the greatest men I have ever known.
