In a statement, they thanked the public for their respect and understanding since the death of their “beloved Junaid” last week.

They also requested privacy from the public, asking for “no unofficial statements and photos be shared” in their time of grief.

Mr Khan was playing cricket for Old Concoridans on Saturday when he had a medical episode and sadly died.

He was batting for Old Concordians LO5 against Prince Alfred Old Collegians at Concordia about 4pm when he collapsed.

Ambulances rushed to the Highgate grounds and conducted CPR but were unable to revive him.

It is understood Mr Khan arrived in Australia from Pakistan to work in the tech industry in 2013.

Most recently, Mr Khan had started as a project manager at the Adelaide Airport in May.

It is also understood Mr Khan’s wife had just arrived in Australia from Pakistan to join him in January this year.

Adelaide Turf Cricket Association executive officer David Heyzer told The Advertiser Mr Khan would be recognised in the coming men’s senior competition games.

“All clubs will be wearing black armbands in the semi final games,” Mr Heyzer said.

“There will be a minute’s silence at games on Saturday.”

“Nothing has been decided” in terms of a memorial for Mr Khan, an Old Concordians Cricket Club spokesman said.

The family said details of the funeral prayer will be announced in due course.
