Tributes have been posted online for “top fella” and Ceduna father Dale Furley, who died on Saturday night after his motorcycle crashed on the state’s west coast, leaving his 11-year-old son in hospital with serious injuries.

Family and friends of Mr Furley have honoured the “fantastic father” on social media following his death.

“R.I.P. cousin you were a true gentleman and a fantastic father to Paddy taken too soon will always be remembered till we meet again,” Leanne Denman wrote on Facebook.

The Perth Football Club, based in Tasmania offered “sincere condolences” to his family and wrote they were “deeply saddened” to hear of his passing.

Mr Furley’s brother Scott and mother Kaye Jensen are both life members of the club.

Riley Lamperd wrote that Mr Furley was “a top fella with a heart of gold”.

“I can’t comprehend what has happened and how life can change and the drop of a pin,” Mr Lamperd said.

“My heart goes out to your brother Scott Furley and your beautiful mother Kaye Jensen.

“You will be forever missed and forever loved. Rest in peace Dale we will meet again to have another beer.”

The Ceduna community is rallying around 11-year-old Paddy Furley following the loss of his father and “number one supporter”.

Mr Furley, 53, died in the motorcycle crash at Denial Bay, while the pillion passenger on his Harley Davidson, Paddy, is in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide.

President of the Far West Little Athletics Darren Bennett said the news of Mr Furley’s death will be “extremely sad for him (Paddy) to wake up to”.

Paddy is a “likeable” member of the athletics club who has been a member for “probably five or six years”.

“We’ll throw any support we can behind Paddy,” Mr Bennett said.

“It’ll have an effect on our club and our junior members especially.”

He said Mr Furley gave Paddy “every opportunity” to excel at the sport he loves and even took him to events in Adelaide.

“He was a really good supporter.”

Mr Bennett is hoping “the fast runner” makes a full recovery from his injuries and is looking forward to see him “back at the track”.

“I’m hoping and praying that he’ll make a full recovery both physically and mentally.”

It is understood that Paddy’s grandmother and uncle have travelled to Adelaide to be at his bedside.

The Advertiser also understands Mr Furley was a single father and much-loved member of the tight-knit Ceduna community.
