An Eyre Peninsula teacher has reportedly been charged with indecently assaulting a student.

The teacher was arrested on Thursday and charged with aggravated indecent assault.

7 News reported the alleged offending had been against a student at the school.

In a letter to parents, the school said there were no concerns any other children had been involved.

An Education Department spokeswoman said the teacher had been “directed away from the site and suspended”.

The spokeswoman said informing parents of the charge was in line with department policy.

“A letter has been provided to parents and caregivers ... to advise them that on 13 July 2023 a teacher was arrested and charged with a child sex offence,” she said.

Police said investigations were continuing, according to 7NEWS.

The teacher was bailed to face the Whyalla Magistrates Court on October 3.
