Semaphore Park man arrested in Adelaide police chase
A wild police chase in Adelaide’s west has ended with the arrest of a Semaphore Park man overnight.
It started when police attempted to stop a black Holden Commodore sedan on Seaview Road at Henley Beach at around 9.25pm on Saturday.
The car stopped at first but then sped off, turning east on to North Street then continuing north on Military Road over Trimmer Parade, police said.
A nearby police air operations helicopter — Polair — kept track of the car.
The sedan was spotted speeding down the Military Road at more than 120km/h — double the 60 km/h speed limit — before its occupants abandoned the vehicle on Plover Grove and fled.
Police found the occupants Bartley Terrace and the 43-year-old Semaphore Park driver was charged with driving at an extreme speed, dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit and driving while disqualified.
He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
Police questioned the male passenger but did not charge him.
Meanwhile, the car was impounded for 28 days.
