Evacuation at Grange beach as member of the public reports shark sighting

A shark sighting has forced New Year’s Day swimmers to evacuate the waters at Grange Beach.
Footage has emerged of beachgoers near Grange Jetty who had retreated to sand.
A member of the public reported the shark, of unknown length and species, at 1.55pm on Sunday afternoon.
“The water has been evacuated at Grange Beach after a shark was sighted near the jetty,” the Dorsal Watch report read.

The sighting comes after a Bronze Whaler was spotted 50 to 100m from shore at the Grange Jetty on Thursday according to the Department of Primary Industries and Regions shark sightings log.
