A man has been arrested after police spotted him riding a stolen motorcycle recklessly in the northern suburbs on Sunday night.

At around 6.30pm police were travelling on Main North Rd at Elizabeth Grove when they spotted a black Kawasaki motorbike with altered registration plates being ridden erratically.

Polair tracked the motorbike through Elizabeth Grove and Para Hills before the bike stopped momentarily on Marrett Drive at Ingle Farm to refuel and collect a passenger.

The motorbike continued driving at speed, allegedly reaching speeds of 100km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The bike drove around the northern suburbs before returning to Marrett Drive to drop off the passenger.

The bike was followed to Douglas Drive at Munno Para where the rider was arrested.

A 40-year-old Gawler South man was charged with illegal use, failing to stop, driving at an extreme speed, driving while being disqualified, driving a motorbike with incorrect number plates and resisting arrest.

Checks revealed the bike was stolen from Smithfield address on May 27.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.

A man has also been arrested for a number of traffic offences after he was caught speeding at Dernancourt on Sunday night.

Just before 9.30pm police detected a motorcycle travelling 67km/h in a 50km/h zone.

A short time later police found the motorbike had crashed at the junction of Lyons Rd and Balmoral Rd – the rider was not injured.

He was submitted to a roadside drug test where he allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested after he was caught going almost 60km/h over the speed limit.

On Saturday night at around 9.40pm police spotted a silver Holden sedan speeding south down Research Rd in Nuriootpa.

The car recorded a speed of 137km/h in an 80km/h zone.
