The wife of Transport Minister Corey Wingard says her “dam has burst” and revealed the family has been “just about broken” by the “constant hate” directed at her husband.

In a Facebook post, Emma Wingard also questioned why “everything one particular well-known bully-boy Labor politician serves up gets sugar-coated media”.

Mr Wingard has faced a series of allegations of bullying and misconduct, as well as claims that he misled parliament.

He and a staffer were this week cleared of any wrongdoing after they were accused of bullying and intimidating Sport SA chief executive officer Leah Cassidy.

On Thursday, Ms Wingard posted a photo of herself in a car and penned a caption beginning with “the ugly truth”.

“For those of you wondering how we are doing … this is it,” she wrote.

“This is the collateral damage of having a husband in politics. It’s too much. My dam has burst and my tears are flowing. I’m hurting and our kids are too.”

Ms Wingard went on to make several pointed comments about the media and “haters”.

“You win media! You win haters! You have just about broken us with your constant hate and pathetic lazy twisted reporting.

“What I do know is that my husband can always hold his head high as he is one of the kindest biggest-hearted honest people who honestly thought he could do some good and make a difference.

“You expect a certain amount of criticism in this role but not down right bullying from the media.”

She lashed the Labor opposition, who have levelled the claims at Mr Wingard.

“I want to know why everything one particular well known bully boy Labor politician serves up gets sugar coated media,” she said.

“One might question this. I will talk to anyone that wants to know the truth.”

Ms Wingard did not name the politician but it is likely a reference to government accountability spokesman Tom Koutsantonis, who has spearheaded the case against the transport minister.

Mr Koutsantonis declined to comment.

Mr Wingard has this week been accused of misleading parliament and doctoring time sheets for a relative who worked in his office.

The opposition also claimed a former staffer in Mr Wingard’s office alleged he made her feel unsafe and she could not continue “for fear of physical harm and psychological distress”.

Mr Wingard has strenuously denied the allegations.

A request for comment has been lodged with his office.
