A new CEO has been appointed for the Limestone Coast local health network.
Emma Poland will return to her home state of South Australia, leaving her role as chief operating officer at Albury-Wodonga Health.
Ms Poland has more than 17 years experience in the public health, private healthcare and education and led the cross-border health service as hospital commander for the incident management team at the height of the Covid pandemic.
Like the Limestone Coast, Albury Wodonga is a regional health service that encompasses a border community and delivers hospital, community and aged-care services.
Ms Poland has also worked at Calvary Health Care and St Andrews Hospital in a range of roles.
She said she was looking forward to meeting the community.
“As a South Australian, I’m so excited to be returning to my home state and having the opportunity to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of the Limestone Coast community,” she said.
Acting chief executive Angela Miller, who will return to her role as Governance and Planning Director, said she was delighted the area was welcoming someone with Ms Poland’s experience and dedication.
“It has been an absolute privilege to be acting chief executive officer for the past few months and to support the teams during this period of transition. I look forward to supporting Emma and helping her settle in.
“The staff across our services are truly brilliant. I thank them for assisting me in making this transition period as seamless as possible for the community.”
Board chair Grant King said Ms Poland would be a “trusted leader and partner in the provision of safe, high-quality, progressive, consumer directed care and services”.
“We sincerely thank Angela Miller who has done a magnificent job in the hot seat these past few months, and will continue to guide our health services until Emma can commence in mid-January.”
