The fight to save beer

A new era looms for the award-winning Brompton Hotel after its unexpected closure and sale to another pub group.

The western suburbs venue quietly shut in November under former owners Duxton Pubs Group, sparking speculation about its future.

It can now be revealed the Dean Group of Hotels has snapped up the venue, with settlement set for December 11.

The Brompton Hotel team, in a notice on its website, told patrons and fans the venue had been sold and was to be handed over to new owners soon.

“We thank you for your patronage over the years and are looking forward to seeing what the new owners have in store for this great western suburbs pub,” it read.

“If you’re interested in hosting an upcoming festive function or large group gathering, please reach out to reservations@bromptonhotel.com.au.”

It is the latest addition to the growing list of venues owned by the Dean Group of Hotels with five others around the state.

The venues in the portfolio include the Largs Pier, Walkers Arms, The London, Macs Hotel and The Peninsula Hotel.

The Dean Group of Hotels has been contacted for comment.

The Duxton Pubs Group bought the Brompton Hotel in 2021 and it underwent a full renovation.
