Race Caller Ray Fewings lands in hospital after snake bite on Christmas Eve

A former radio presenter and iconic SA race caller has unexpectedly ended up in hospital on Christmas Eve.

A prominent South Australian race caller has had an unfortunate run-in with a snake, landing him in hospital as Christmas festivities kick off.

Radio veteran, Ray Fewings, took to social media on Tuesday, after he was suspectedly bitten by a snake.

“Spending the day in hospital after treading on a snake,” the post read.

“Unsure if bitten. Feeling fine. Paramedics fabulous.

“Wear boots not sandals from now on.”

In another post that followed, his son, Shaun Fewings, quickly confirmed that Fewings was in “satisfactory condition” while in hospital and they believe he was bitten by a brown snake.

“Possibly a bit of venom in him,” he wrote on the post.
