The woman, who did not wish to be identified, said she was walking her pet dog in a central area of Murray Bridge on Monday, June 17 just after 5pm, close to one of the town’s major schools.

She said she was walking on the street opposite the playground of the Murray Bridge North School when the two dogs came bounding towards her and starting attacking her defenceless poodle cross.

“These two dogs just came straight at us, straight at my dog’s neck and ears and I was pulled to the ground … I thought the worst might happen and I’d lose my pet” she said.

“I was fighting for my dog and screaming my lungs out and screaming so loudly a teacher came out from the school (to assist).”

The attack victim said the teacher took the woman into the school grounds just after classroom hours to get her out of harm’s way before the pet was rushed to the vet.

“My dog had wounds around the throat, neck and ear area,” she said.
