Truck in flames on southeastern Freeway

Delays have cleared after a truck broke down on the South Eastern Freeway this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Mt Barker Rd, Glen Osmond with reports of dark smoke billowing from the vehicle after 2pm.

It is reported the truck experienced engine trouble after the turbocharger blew.

Despite initial reports that the truck was on fire, it has been confirmed that the blown turbocharger resulted in oil burning which created a heavy smoke.

Video footage shows dark smoke emerging from the truck’s exhaust pipes.

The truck had broken down in an exit lane, heading outbound.

The Metropolitan Fire Service attended the scene and made sure the vehicle was off the road before leaving after 2:30pm.
