Cyclist in serious but stable condition after serious crash at Happy Valley
The son of a cyclist hit by a car along a busy Happy Valley road says his dad is lucky to be alive.

A man hit by a car at Happy Valley has been identified as a father and passionate cyclist.
Jason Carmichael, 55 of Happy Valley, was riding along Chandlers Hill Rd just after 5pm on Friday when he was struck by a blue Honda CRV.
Emergency services rushed Mr Carmichael to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious injuries.
On Saturday, 9NEWS reported he remained in a induced coma while doctors determined the severity of his injuries. He is now in a serious but stable condition.
Mr Carmichael’s son, Simon was contacted shortly after the accident.
“I got a call from the hospital about 20 minutes after it happened, that he had been hit,” Simon said.
“He will recover.”

Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda, a 66-year-old Happy Valley man, was taken to hospital and had a blood sample taken for analysis.
The result of the test is not known.
Police closed Chandlers Hill Rd between Main South Rd and Candy Rd for three hours while Major Crash investigators examined the scene.
Chandlers Hill Rd has since been reopened.
Locals said cyclists frequent the area and improved safety measures are needed on the busy stretch of road.
