Hundreds of friends of a young man who fell 30m to his death at a Mt Gambier sinkhole will pay tribute to him by cruising around the northern suburbs this month.

A group of Adelaide motoring enthusiasts – Sector Seven Motorsport Society – are hosting the event to honour their “loyal friend” Bradley Streeter.

The Facebook event named “Cruise for Bradley” will leave Munno Para Shopping City on Saturday, February 22.

Organisers shared their sorrow at the loss of Mr Streeter, 20, who died on Saturday night. “Many of you would know him as one of the loyalest, down-to- earth, cheerful fellas around,” the event’s Facebook page says.

“And of course there is 100 per cent no doubt – the bloke could steer a car.”

Almost 500 people have responded to the event and organisers are encouraging attendees to donate to Mr Streeter’s family to assist with funeral costs.

Mr Streeter was believed to be performing a handstand on a railing when he fell to his death at the popular Cave Gardens in the Mt Gambier city centre.

Liz Anne, who spoke to The Advertiser on behalf of Mr Streeter’s family, said they were focused on recovering together. Ms Anne hoped his family could take a trip to Mount Gambier to visit the place where he died.

She said Mr Streeter, of Lewiston, was in unknown territory, visiting a girl he was interested in who lived in Mt Gambier.

“Sometimes (young people) just do something on a whim and don’t think of the consequences,” Ms Anne said.

Mt Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin extended her “sincere condolences to family and friends” of Mr Streeter.

She said her council would evaluate the safety of the Cave Gardens in the interest of public safety “if need be”.
