Crime Gangs Task Force and Australian Border Force arrest Virginia man for drugs and cash

A 35-year-old has been arrested after police found more than 300g of illicit drugs and almost $100k in cash during a raid on a northern suburbs property.

A Virginia man, 35 has faced court after police raided a northern suburbs property and found more than 300g of illicit drugs and almost $100k in cash.

Police allege at about 9am on Wednesday, August 2, investigators from Crime Gangs Task Force and officers from Australian Border Force searched an Virginia property.

Following the raid, about 180g of methamphetamine, 150g of cocaine and $97,355 in cash was found and seized.

A 35-year-old Virginia man was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in controlled drugs and money laundering.

A Huntfield Heights man, 45, who was also at the address at the time of the search was arrested for breach of bail.

Both men were refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A black SS model Holden Commodore that was suspected to stolen, was also seized for further investigation.

Officer in charge of SAPOL’s Crime and Gangs Task Forces, detective Chief Inspector David Huddy, said the arrest was a result of an operation to protect the community from “drug importation and trafficking”.

“The seizures and arrests in this investigation are the result of ongoing and deliberate interagency partnerships to counter the community threats posed by drug importation and trafficking,” Mr Huddy.

ABF Inspector Steve Garden also said they had maintained a close and continual partnership with SA Police to target people who are importing drugs into Australia.

“Crime gangs relentlessly target the Australian border in their attempts to profit from unleashing untold harm on the community,” Inspector Garden said.

“The work the ABF does alongside our partner agencies is so critical to disrupting these criminals and keeping the community safe.”
