RAA’S roadside assistance employees will hold a lengthy stop work meeting today, as part of an ongoing pay dispute.
An RAA spokesman told The Advertiser all emergencies would still be responded to despite the action.
He said, as with two previous union strikes, contractors and non-union staff would cover shifts. The spokesman said anyone needing assistance should still call 131 111.
RAA’s Peter Bray said the union action was to discuss the status of current enterprise agreement negotiations.
The AMWU has rejected the RAA pay offer on the grounds that conditions would be eroded and future employees would not be taken on with the same work conditions.
“For more than 12 months, RAA has been focused on negotiating with these employees to develop an EA that is fair for all parties and enables RAA to continue to provide the best service to its members,” Mr Bray said.
The stop work meeting is from 11am to 3.30pm.
