A 120-place childcare centre, a medical centre and 11 homes would be built in Port Lincoln under a new proposal.
Property developer Luxo Projects has sought planning approval to build the development on a 6000 sqm plot of land at the corner of Marina Drive and Stamford Terrace.
Luxo Projects director Ric Hambrook said Port Lincoln was in dire need of more childcare spaces and he had worked closely with the council to “create a hub that benefits the local community, both young and old alike”.
“We are excited to bring this project to life and bring some greatly needed services and accommodation to the area,” he said.
Planning documents submitted to Port Lincoln Council said an operator has already been identified for the 120-place childcare centre, but did not name it.
The proposed 397 sqm medical centre would consist of a general practice with nine consulting rooms and four tenancies for allied health services.
It would operate seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.
The documents also revealed plans for a mix of 11 conjoined one-storey and two-storey dwellings, each with three bedrooms.
Four apartment-style dwellings would be built southwest of the site and seven townhouse-style dwellings on the northeast.
The proposed development would also incorporate a 103-space carparking area.
The present pedestrian link on Stamford Terrace to the south of Marina Drive would be removed, as the access point would be relocated further to the northeast.
Artist impressions by D’Andrea Architects showed modern dwellings and a schmick medical centre incorporating granite and cedarwood finishes.
