The two-year-old girl’s tragic death came less than a week after a toddler was hit and killed by a car in a driveway in Parafield Gardens.

Emergency services were called to a rural property on Finger Hill Rd, about 10km outside Cowell about 12.45pm on Sunday.

The girl is understood to have been struck by a ute on the dirt driveway of the property, sustaining critical injuries.

The State Emergency Service and Country Fire Service were called to support paramedics as they frantically worked to save the girl.

Specialist MedStar paramedics from Adelaide began making their way to property but were cancelled when the young girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 27-year-old Cowell man was behind the wheel of the car and was uninjured in the crash.

He was understood to be helping police with their inquiries.

Major Crash investigators flew from Adelaide on Sunday afternoon to analyse the crash scene.

He was struck by a car driven by a 49-year-old Salisbury man who was a relative of the family.

Distressed neighbours said they heard a loud noise before ambulance sirens confirmed the serious nature of the incident.

The toddler’s three older sisters witnessed the crash in the driveway.

The family, who are originally from Myanmar, arrived in Australia in April 2016 as refugees via Malaysia, search of a better life.

Family members and relatives gathered around the grief-stricken family as detectives scoured the driveway and analysed the scene of the crash.
