Police and MPs vow to deal with bikies

POLICE and the deputy premier have warned the feuding Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang that they will be "dealt with" after the third shooting this month.

POLICE and the deputy premier have warned the feuding Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang that they will be "dealt with".

In the latest incident, at least two shots were fired at a car as it left the car park of the Findon Hotel, on Grange Rd, about 9.50pm on Monday.

Deputy Premier John Rau rejected suggestions organised crime in Adelaide was out of control and labelled those involved in Monday's shooting as "lunatics" and "idiots".

"I'm shocked that these idiots go out there and behave in this way," he said. "When they are caught up with, we will deal with them."

Crime Gangs Task Force acting officer-in-charge Detective Inspector Paul Yeomans confirmed that the shooting was related to the ongoing internal feud.

Police are hunting two men known to each other who were involved in an altercation in the car park that led to the shooting.

It followed the shooting of SA Comanchero chief Vincenzo Focarelli at Munno Para West on December 15 and a gunfight between two men at Caffe Paesano in North Adelaide three days later. Police attributed both shootings to fighting within the Comancheros.

"(Focarelli) is one of a number of people we are looking to speak to in relation to this incident. I'm not at this stage prepared to say what their involvement may or may not be," Det-Insp Yeomans said.

"The pub was open for trade, there were some cars in the car park, the shots were fired, it appears, in the direction of Grange Rd, so the fact that nobody was injured is a miracle.

"If bikies, in particular, think they can take the law into their own hands and roam the street with loaded firearms, then they have another thing coming."

A resident and Findon Hotel patron, who did not want to be identified, said pub-goers were largely oblivious to the shooting. "I was inside (the hotel) and only noticed when I came outside (that) there were three police markers on the ground," she said. "We were shocked ... it's normally very quiet."
