Truck driver charged after a serious collision between a car and truck in Para Hills

A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition and a truck driver will face court after a sickening collision in Para Hills.

A truck driver has been charged after a serious crash at Para Hills.

Emergency services were called to the crash scene at the intersection of Kesters and Bridge roads just after 11am on Tuesday after reports a car and truck had collided.

A 72-year-old station wagon driver was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.

A woman and three young children also in the car were taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.

The 45-year-old Evanston Park truck driver, who was not injured in the incident, was arrested by Major Crash investigators and charged with causing harm by dangerous driving.

The man was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.

Bridge Road remains closed to traffic.

Police are urging people to avoid the area while major crash investigators examine the scene.

SA Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has any dashcam footage that may assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.

Meanwhile, the driver of a light truck died after colliding with a ute near Mount Gambier early on Tuesday morning.

Police and emergency services were called to the collision on Glenelg Rive Rd near Mount Schank just before 7am on Tuesday.

A 45-year-old man from the South-East died at the scene. The driver of the HiLux ute, a 64-year-old man from Mount Gambier, was taken to Mount Gambier hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
