A woman has died after being involved in a crash with a road train in the state’s Mid North on Sunday morning, just moments after a grassfire started in the same area.
The woman, 30, of Seaton, was driving a Mitsubishi SUV when the crash happened on the Augusta Highway, about three kilometres south of Redhill, just after 9.30am.
She died at the scene, while the driver of the road train – a 67-year-old man from Davoren Park – escaped unharmed. He was taken to hospital for a medical assessment.
Just minutes before the fatal crash, CFS crews were called to a grassfire that started at the same location on the Augusta Highway.

Flames jumped across the highway and approached a railway line, while six water bombers and eight trucks attacked the blaze.
It was quickly extinguished, while an Advice Message was issued for heavy smoke in the area.
The Augusta Highway remains closed between Ingham Gap Road and Clements Road while Major Crash Officers examine the scene.
Investigations into the cause of the grassfire are ongoing, but police do not believe it is suspicious.
The Seaton woman is the 95th person to lose their lives on South Australian roads this year, compared with 113 at this time in 2019.
