A 21-year-old Seaton man has died after colliding head on with a truck near Murray Bridge.
A car and a truck collided on Swanport Bridge at Murray Bridge just before 2pm on Wednesday.
Sergeant Sheldon Lovell of Major Crash said the incident was under investigation but the truck driver did not appear to be at fault.
“It is a tragedy when someone loses their life on a South Australian road,” Sgt Lovell said.
“There is no good news out of this.
“It appears at this early stage in the investigation that the truck driver was an innocent party in all of this.
“What caused the sedan to go onto the other side of the road is yet to be determined.”
The 47-year-old truck driver was hospitalised with minor injuries.
Several motorists who witnessed the crash stopped to assist and confirmed there had been a head-on crash.
Sgt Lovell thanked them for their help and asked any further witnesses to come forward.
He implored drivers to remain focused while on the state’s roads.
“We urge all drivers when they are on the road, just drive, keep in your lane and pay attention to what you are doing,” he said.
Safework SA confirmed they would be investigating the accident as the driver was at work when the crash occurred.
The Swanport Bridge was closed for much of the day but has now been reopened to all traffic.
