Firefighters have contained a bushfire at Sampson Flat. Residents were told to take action on Monday afternoon as the scrub fire burned on Harvey Rd, in a southwesterly direction towards One Tree Hill Rd.

The fire was contained about 2pm and no longer poses a threat to assets or property.

CFS crews will remain at the scene to mop up until 4pm this afternoon.

Earlier, a watch and act message was issued for nearby residents as the fire burned out of control.

Water bombers attended and unloaded 10 drops on the fire.

The fire burned around 12ha, before crews were able to bring it under control.

Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed until the smoke from the fire passes.

Meanwhile, an advice message was also issued for another fire burning at Padthaway in the Upper South-East.

The message was issued just after 1pm Monday, warning motorists and residents on the Riddoch Highway and Schubert Rd areas of smoke.

“You are advised to close all doors and windows and stay indoors if the smoke is causing you concern,” the warning said

“Be careful when driving as smoke may reduce visibility.”

The two fires came as authorities issued widespread high fire danger ratings in South Australia.

The Sampson Flat region was devastated by bushfires in January 2014 which affected the Eden Valley, Bangor and Rockleigh areas.

During those fires, 24 homes, 146 other structures, five businesses and more than 12,000ha of land was lost.
