Two separate bushfires, one of which threatened one of the state’s top wine regions, have been contained.

CFS had issued warnings for the two bushfires on Wednesday afternoon after reports of grass fires at McLaren Vale and Black Springs respectively.

The fire authority warned residents in both areas to stay indoors as the fires spread.

At around 1.15pm CFS released an advice messages for both McLaren Vale, Sheoak Rd near Old Noarlunga in the Mount Lofty Ranges and Black Springs off the Barrier Highway.

“You are advised to close all doors and windows and stay indoors if the smoke is causing you concern. Be careful when driving as smoke may reduce visibility,” the CFS message said.

The McLaren Vale bushfire was causing smoke to drift to Onkaparinga Hills and Old Noarlunga.

A CFS firefighter said the fire had spread from a controlled burn on a nearby property.

Strong northerly winds fanned the flames downhill into Onkaparinga National Park, burning about a hectare of grass and foliage.

A change in wind direction aided crews on the ground and the fire was contained within about two hours.
