THE Country Fire Service says a fire that destroyed a shed near Clare on Friday afternoon is inactive but warn that may change during Saturday.

Earlier reports suggested a house had been destroyed rather than the shed.

The CFS said cews would be working throughout the day to establish control lines.

While the fire was currently inactive, it could flare up and again pose a risk to public safety as the temperature rises today.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and continue to check and follow their Bushfire Surval Plan, as conditions may change.

To ensure your safety, and the safety of firefighters and other emergency services personnel, you should not enter the area, unless necessary.

There is reduced visibility in the area due to smoke and fallen trees may be blocking roads.

If you are not prepared, leave now. Only leave if the path to a safer place is clear.

It took 100 firefighters to battle the fire, which broke out at midday on Friday.

Crews worked through the night to contain the fire, which destroyed one house.

By 7.30pm yesterday the fire had burned through 130ha of scrub.

Meanwhile, also on Fiday afternoon, six MFS appliances carrying 23 firefighters responded to reports of a grass fire at Peterhead.

Crews arrived at Fletcher Rd just after 1pm and discovered the blaze had already eaten through several fences and a shed.

With it threatening multiple properties, crews worked quickly and managed to contain the flames in 30 minutes.
