A 60-year-old Burnside man has lost his licence after crashing his car into an eastern suburbs front garden and returning a blood-alcohol reading almost five times the legal limit on Thursday night.

Police and emergency services were called to Kensington Rd at Rosslyn Park after reports a car had left the road and smashed into a front garden just after 6.20pm.

On arrival, police located a Subaru station wagon hovering over a small brick fence and embedded into the front garden of the property.

The 60-year-old driver allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of .238.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his Subaru was towed from the scene.

He was reported for drink driving, driving under the influence and driving without due care.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
