A newborn baby named after a music icon has delivered the perfect Christmas gift for his parents.
Meet Bowie Daniel Harris, born at 6.25am on Christmas Day at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital weighing 3.8kg and measuring 53cm.
Bowie, named on the suggestion of his part-time musician father Daniel Harris, is his dad’s third child and first for his mother Agi Magyar, 39, of Wayville.
Ms Magyar was induced at home on December 23 and was admitted to the hospital on Christmas Eve. Bowie was born after a seventeen-and-a-half hour labour.
“I was very emotional, we were both exhausted,” Ms Magyar said of the birth. “But it was worth it, he is a cutie.
“We have been trying for a baby for so long, and when we knew there was a December due day we always knew there was a chance of having it (the baby) on Christmas.
“It was the best Christmas present, I was even telling my husband we don’t need to get each other a Christmas present, we’ve got this baby and that’s more than we could ask for.”
Ms Magyar couldn’t recall if any David Bowie hits were playing during the labour.
“Maybe, Daniel was responsible for the playlist but I was probably not really listening to the music,” she said.
Bowie shares his birthday with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, singer Annie Lennox and the late actor Humphrey Bogart.
