River regions across South Australia under flood warnings

Rising flood waters have isolated the Bolto shack community near Mannum prompting an urgent alert by the State Emergency Service for people still there to shelter in place as it is now unsafe to evacuate.

The Flood Emergency Warning message for the Bolto shack community says Hunter Road near Haythorpe Reserve has been closed due to significant damage by rising flood waters.

A total road closure will be in place by the end of Sunday as it is expected a section of Hunter Road will be completely washed away.

“The Bolto shack community is now isolated,” it states. “If you are in this area you can no longer leave by this road. It is now unsafe to evacuate the area.”

The SES advice for the community is to follow their emergency plan, notify family and friends of the plans, prepare family and pets for flooding and move to the top floor or higher ground.

“Roads will be dangerous, do not travel unless absolutely necessary,” it states. “Fully charge your mobile phone.”
