B-double rolls on Dukes Highway between Tintinara and Coonalpyn, road train crashes in the Mallee

A B-double carrying livestock has flipped on the Dukes Highway, causing chaos on the busy thoroughfare with sheep roaming near the road’s edge as well as road closures.

A B-double carrying livestock has flipped on the Dukes Highway, causing chaos on the busy thoroughfare.

Emergency services were called to the highway near Culburra just after 12.20am on Friday, January 5, after reports two trucks had side-swiped each other.

The driver of the rolled B-double received minor injuries while the second truck stopped a short distance away and spoke to police and was uninjured.

One lane of the highway is closed, however vehicles are able to safely pass at a reduced speed under direction of traffic controllers.

However, the highway will need to be closed between Coonalpyn and Tintinara later this morning as heavy machinery tows the truck from the area.

Diversions will be in place.

Police are also warning motorists driving through the area are to be aware a number of sheep escaped from the trailer and are roaming near the highway’s edge.

Meanwhile, a road train has rolled in the Mallee on Friday morning just hours after a separate incident where a B-double carrying livestock flipped on a the Dukes Highway.

At about 7am Friday morning, January 5, CFS crews were called to reports of a large truck rollover near Geranium.

It is understood the driver was not injured.
