``This was an abuse of the road closure provisions when it was announced . . . and it’s disconnected the communities,’’ Senator Xenophon said.

`If you’re visiting someone in Calvary Hospital, it can double or triple the length of the journey.

``It’s absurd and it’s time it was changed.’‘

As previously reported by the City North Messenger, Croydon MP Michael Atkinson is planning draft legislation to reverse the closure, which Senator Xenophon says he will support in a submission to State Parliament.

Adelaide City Council closed the short link between War Memorial Drive and north-western North Adelaide to cars in 1987.
