POLICE are appealing to an anonymous man who called its Major Crime branch in 1997 in relation to the murder of an Adelaide woman to ring again.

Officers from the Major Crime Investigation Branch are carrying out fresh forensic testing on vital evidence connected to the murder of Susana Bobridge.

Ms Bobridge, known as Suzie, was shot dead in the sand hills at Tennyson and her body was found at 8am on Friday, January 10, 1997.

Detective Brevet Sergeant Shaun Osborn said the case was being revisited as part of Operation Persist – an ongoing review into South Australian cold cases.

“We are targeting cases and exhibits where we believe that advances in technology will provide police with fresh leads,” he said.

“Retesting of exhibits from the scene of Suzie’s death may yield a profile of an offender.

“Police are also issuing a specific appeal for a man who made several telephone calls directly to Major Crime in early 1997 to get in touch with us.

“His information has proven accurate and may hold the key to solving this case.”

Detective Sergeant Osborn said the man contacted police anonymously and he could do so again.

He urged him to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Ms Bobridge, who was a 30-year-old drug addict and sometimes worked as a prostitute to support her heroin habit, was last seen alive about 9.30pm on January 9, getting into a white car on Port Rd at West Hindmarsh.

Police have not been able to confirm the involvement of the driver in Ms Bobridge’s death however they believe she was shot about 10.10pm on the same night.

Detective Sergeant Osborn said police kept in regular contact with Ms Bobridge’s friends and family.

“Her family has been deeply traumatised by what has happened and want her killer brought to justice,” he said.

“No one deserved to be murdered in this way.

“Police still believe this case can be solved, and we’re hopeful of clear lines of inquiry as part of the Operation Persist review.”
