POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information on the 1989 murder of Peter Seaford in Whyalla.
POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information on the 1989 murder of Peter Seaford in Whyalla.
A $200,000 reward is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person who killed Mr Seaford.
The reward is payable at the discretion of the Police Commissioner.
Mr Seaford, 31, was murdered in his Essington Lewis Ave unit about 4.45am on Sunday, March 12, 1989.
He was attacked when he returned home after attending an alarm call earlier that morning at his business on the corner of Essington Lewis Ave and Elliot St.
He died from traumatic brain damage due to multiple blows to the head with a blunt object.
The motive of the murder is believed to be robbery.
Detective Acting Inspector Cameron Georg from the Major Crime Investigation Section, said police never closed a murder file until the case was solved.
“The investigation into Mr Seaford’s murder will remain allocated to an experienced Major Crime investigator until it is solved,” he said.
“There is no time limit on when someone can be prosecuted for homicide and police will pursue every opportunity to investigate new evidence or fresh leads as they become available.”
