Apartments, retail showroom in development plan for Grange Rd, Findon

A new building with homes over a large retail area or showroom would be constructed under new plans. See the images.

Twelve new homes would be build on top of a large retail or commercial building in Adelaide’s west under new plans for infill housing.

The two-storey, mixed-use development would be built in Findon offering 12 apartments as well as an underground carpark.

Plans show the multimillion-dollar building would be constructed on now-vacant land on Grange Road, between an Aldi and a Caltex servo. The land was previously occupied by other retail shops.

The side wall would be decorated with blue and grey triangles to match the Aldi building’s wall.

It would offer a ground-floor retail or commercial area measuring about 1500sq m in size and about 60 carparks and bicycle spaces in a basement level

The top floor would be taken out by 12 apartments of two or three bedrooms, between 90-100sq m each in size, including balcony and ensuite bathroom.

Access to the apartments would be from the basement carpark, which would be joined by a ramp to a separate, above-ground carpark for about 20 cars along Grange Rd for the retail component.

Planning documents say the retail building is not yet leased but could house offices, showroom or supermarket.

One side of the development would be clad in a blue and grey triangular design to match the adjacent boundary wall of the nearby Aldi building.
