Calls on the government to do more to put an end to anti-Semitism

A leading Jewish community figure has condemned those responsible for displaying anti-Israel posters at a polling booth.

The posters were spotted outside Trinity Gardens Primary School as voters went to cast their ballot for the Dunstan by-election on Saturday.

One depicted a “banned” Flag of Israel with the word “boycott” and another featured the anti-Israel slogan “from the river to the sea”.

Leading Jewish community figure Norman Schueler said the placement of the posters was “scurrilous”.

“People are going about their activities, their civic duty by voting,” he said.

“For the most part it reflects really badly on the people who are putting the posters up ... I suspect these people have lost focus of what the issue here is.”

Mr Schueler said the display was particularly concerning given the rise in anti-semitism reported across the world.

He said the posters have been reported to authorities at the school.
