Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello loses more weight ahead of ‘Dunk me for MND’ challenge at Glenelg v Sturt on King’s Birthday Monday

Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello will be out to make a splash at Monday’s Super Match between Glenelg and Sturt – but the splash won’t be as big as usual.

'Really important': Big Freeze charity event marks ninth anniversary

Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello will be out to make a splash on Monday – but it won’t be as big as usual.

The slimmed-down media personality has lost another 7kg since March – 42kg in total – ahead of the ‘Dunk me for MND’ challenge at the King’s Birthday clash between Glenelg v Sturt.

“It’s going to be super cold … it wouldn’t kill them to hold this thing in summer?” joked Cosi. “But it is a great way to raise awareness for a wonderful cause.”

Young fans will get the chance to hit a target with the aim of ‘dunking’ Cosi and other big names into an icy cold tank of water.

Funds raised will go towards providing support and care for motor neuron patients and their families.

“It’s going to be good fun day, I can’t wait,” said Cosi, who is Glenelg’s no. 1 ticket holder.

The SANFL is hoping the “Super Match’’, presented in partnership with The Advertiser and featuring off-field activities including minigolf, face-painters, inflatable footy games and free haircuts, will attract a crowd of about 10,000.

The South Aussie with Cosi host, who tipped the scales at 143kg in November, has now trimmed down to 101kg, thanks in large part to gastric sleeve surgery he had late last year.

“My clothes don’t fit anymore,” he said.

“It’s certainly made my lifestyle much better, I feel so much healthier. I really do feel ten years younger.”

Cosi, who’s been filling in on Mix 102.3’s breakfast show this month, said he’s now happy with his size, and doesn’t expect to lose any more weight.

“For me to lose more from here I’d have to really go on a diet and go on regular jogs, which I don’t do,” he said. “Now I only eat about 25 per cent of what I used to.”

It’s been a busy time for Cosi, who’s joined Ali Clarke on Mix’s early morning program while regular co-host Max Burford is on his honeymoon.

While Cosi’s stint on the show has been extended to Friday, he’s more than happy to hand back the mic at the end of the week.

“The pressure’s been off a bit, it’s the first time in my radio career where I can actually not care if they fire me,” said Cosi, who was let go by SAFM in October.

“I have been loving life so much with the freedom this year to work on my TV show, charity, farm and travel. For now I am loving working with Mix and doing special projects and bits and pieces. I feel the balance in life is spot on.”
