An elderly man has died in a hit-run crash at Sedan

A man’s body was found lying on the side of the road last night in what police believe was a hit-run crash northeast of Adelaide. The local mayor has urged the driver to turn themselves in.

A driver remains at large after a man’s body was found on the side of a Sedan road, in what police believe was a fatal hit-run crash.

Police were called to Halfway House Rd in Sedan, west of the Murray River, about 9.45pm Wednesday where they found a man lying on the road.

The Angas Valley man, 70, was declared dead at the scene.

Major Crash Detectives attended the scene and believe the man was victim of a hit-run crash.

Halfway House Rd was closed to all traffic for a number of hours while detectives examined the scene but has since reopened.

Police are urging anyone with information to call police on 1800 333 000.

Mid Murray Council Mayor, Dave Burgess heard about the incident on Thursday morning.

“It’s a very tragic event obviously, and our hearts go out to the family,” Mr Burgess said.

He urged the driver responsible to come forward.

“The driver has been involved in a tragic accident, with the technology of today’s world, someone will eventually find you.

“It will be much easier to just come forward now.”

The town’s pub was closed at the time of the crash.

Isiah Hodshon, 20, was killed while walking home from a friend’s house in Stirling North in May last year.

The young man’s body was on the side of the Augusta Highway and police believe his cause of death was a hit-run crash.

The driver remains unidentified.
