Murdered mum of three Synamin Bell mourned by shattered family and friends

Murdered mother-of-three Synamin Bell has been remembered as an extraordinary person who would always offer a hand to help. Family and friends are now rallying around her young children.

Synamin Bell was a trusting soul who always had a smile on her face, offered a hand in generosity and provided a shoulder to cry on.

The devoted mother of three wanted to give her kids the best opportunities in life and study medicine to develop greater knowledge of their health conditions.

But those dreams were shattered when Ms Bell was murdered at Millicent in yet another alleged case of domestic violence in Australia.

Family and friends have paid tribute to the bubbly 26-year-old, who was found by police dead inside her rental house on Poole St just after 11pm on Saturday.

Ms Bell’s brother Paul Bell-Inskip said the “unfathomable” tragedy had sent shockwaves through their family.

“She was just the type of person that if she knew you were going to be part of her life, she would embrace that,” Mr Bell-Inskip told The Advertiser.

“She was a trusting girl and struggled to see the bad in anyone.”

Mr Bell-Inskip said he used to live with his sister several years ago. “She made my house a home and loved my kids unconditionally,” he said.

“She was just an extraordinary person that always had a smile on her face and now it’s all been taken away.”

A GoFundMe page has been established to help support Ms Bell’s three children aged six, four and three.

Ms Bell’s brother, Luke McGaughey, wrote that two of her children suffered from medical conditions and that his sister “took it upon herself to learn about any subject relating to her kids’ health wellbeing”.

“Synamin had dreams of giving her kids the life and opportunities that we all hope our children have before them,” Mr McGaughey wrote.

“She was trying her hardest with limited resources and support, trying to be the best mum she could be.

“Synamin was loved by all and those lucky enough to have known her were blessed by her generosity and loyalty.

“The loss of your mother is something from which you never fully recover but losing her so young leaves these beautiful kids with so much life to walk through without her.”

Sharayah Williams enjoyed a “treasured” 10-year friendship with Ms Bell and said she was in “total denial” when reports of her death filtered through.

“When I finally saw the news report that confirmed it, I cried and cried, and have cried many times since,” Ms Williams said.

“I’m so sad I will never get to see her face, hear her voice or feel her hug again.

“She was there in my darkest times in life and I will never forget or stop appreciating that.”

Ms Williams hoped the tragedy would be a trigger for change.

“No one should ever have to go through something like this and absolutely no child should be left without their mother because of domestic violence,” she said.

Another person close to Ms Bell, Chandelle Brookman, wrote of her heartbreak.

“I’m heartbroken, devastated and in shock. I was only just speaking to you the day you were taken,” she wrote. “Synamin Bell I love you forever hun, this lifetime and next.”
Ms Brookman said that Ms Bell “fought so hard”.

Several friends commented on posts, and said they were “shocked”, “gutted”, “heartbroken” and “devastated”.

Several floral tributes have been left outside Ms Bell’s home, including by a neighbour who called police.

A woman who placed a small bouquet said “this is so tragic”.

Another woman, believed to be Ms Bell’s sister, visited the rental property and asked neighbours to help look for cats which were missing.

Police will remain outside the house maintaining guard until forensic officers from Adelaide return on Tuesday to continue examining the crime scene.

Cody Edwards, 25, of Millicent, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. He was remanded in custody and will appear in court on Tuesday.
